I know that my weight does fluctuate.
It’s often in flux with the seasons.
But these extra five pounds, or even these ten,
are here for sound medical reasons.
One never knows when an illness will strike,
a bad cold or even a flu.
Your appetite plummets, you can’t keep food down.
Being too thin is simply not healthy for you!
We must think ahead, a proactive plan
to stay in our most healthy state.
We need these few pounds, of that I am sure.
We call it our “insurance weight.”
You mustn’t fret as you get on the scale
if that number climbs up a bit high.
You’re simply insuring you stay in good health
as you reach for that next piece of pie.
I'll tell you what a few extra pounds are....vital to our health! Let me explain. We all know the joy that the holidays bring. The period beginning with Thanksgiving and extending through New Year's Day is a most joyous time of year. But we are also aware that one of the potential pitfalls is the preponderance of food...scrumptious, impossible to resist, carbohydrate-loaded food. It is our obligation to eat it, particularly if we are guests at someone else's home or party. But do not worry! You are doing yourself a favor, as the following poem illuminates.
