HONEY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE
The temperature is plummeting.
The streets are icing over.
No one wants to leave the house.
Not even my dog Rover.
On T.V. I saw an ad:
"The Beauty of Jamaica".
I asked my hubby pleadingly,
"What can I do to make ya'...
come with me to a sandy beach,
somewhere with a sunnier clime?"
His eyes lit up, and he exclaimed,
"Maybe we can make the time."
He went online and searched the web
and found something that looks just right.
How fortunate, it is not only
my imagination that can take flight.
Yes...that's a snowscape framed in my window this morning. This is the kind of snow that sticks to the ground and actually accumulates! After an uncharacteristically warm and sunny November in Detroit, the inevitable happens. Is it a beautiful wonderland? Sort of. But I'd rather admire it from the warmth of my cozy chair in the den for now. Gotta' wait until the reality sinks in. Better yet, how about a planned escape? P.S. Those of you who know me well also know that I don't actually have a dog...it's poetic license people!
How do you feel about winter? Any other coping mechanisms to share?
I missed my bi-weekly blog for the first time two weeks ago. I have a good excuse. I was in China! Although several symbolic walls between China and the rest of the world are diminishing, there are still government controls that impeded my ability to transmit my blog. It was an extraordinary trip, and one of the most awe-inspiring moments was beholding The Great Wall.
I know my usual post is humorous, because my mantra is the importance of laughter in our lives. Do not despair! You still have an opportunity to come and see the encore of my performance piece, "What Am I Doing Here?" on November 17th. The information to save a seat is below in my previous post, or you can just call me at 248.752.1588. Hope to see you there!
My first illustrated collection of poems is available for purchase.
