The World Premiere of "What Am I Doing Here?" was performed Thursday night in front of a warm, responsive and sold-out crowd! My four brave friends, Debbie Horowitz, Denise Parr, Betsy Heuer and Andi Sklar were incredible. They are now officially rising stars. The performance piece is based on my new book, "Lights Out in the Attic", (available for purchase on this site) and is also a lighthearted, sometimes poignant look at aging for women of the Boomer Generation. We have been receiving rave reviews and lots of encouragement to take the act on the road!
Thank you to all of those that I have heard from already. It has been awesome. If anyone has audience or venue ideas (does not have to be in the Detroit area), please share with me.
As I entered the American Girl Doll showroom in Chicago to see the phenomenon of this amazing concept and enterprise, I was unprepared for the first doll that greeted me in the entrance display. It was Julie, and it seemed as though they used a picture of me and my friends from the 1970s as the model for her styling! Seriously, am I that old that I am now the inspiration for an historical doll?
Has anyone else seen this doll? Given it to their granddaughter, perchance?
After two years gestation, I finally gave birth to my new book! Weighing in at 8 ounces and measuring 8.5 x 8.5 inches, it is a compilation of many of my musings (some you've seen, many you haven't) along with Ellen's fabulous illustrations. At the risk of sounding immodest, I must say it will make a lovely table-top accessory and a perfect gift for your friends, sisters, mothers, etc. My hope is to bring laughter and moments of poignancy into the lives of my fellow Boomers in a format that can be casually browsed, shared at social occasions, and left on the coffee table for chance encounters.
I also wrote a performance piece based on the musings. The World Premiere of "What Am I Doing Here?" will be performed at the Sarah and Ralph Davidson Hadassah House in West Bloomfield, Michigan on September 17th at 5:00. Call 248-683-5030 for details.
Thank you to all of my readers and supporters for giving me the courage to follow my passion and to undertake these projects.
My techie son worked his techie magic (even while he was on his honeymoon!) and you can now purchase the book right on the website, where it says BUY BOOK...how clever is that?
My first illustrated collection of poems is available for purchase.
